I was also supposed to add that as far as I could make out the smileys had been hotlinked to, although I'm not sure as I don't know much about hotlinking. If I'm right and they were hotlinked to, do smiley central allow that?

if they give the html code for the smileys, then they are ok with it....and you paste the html ...
but I just save them to my own computer, I have a lot of different ones that came thru a tube group I used to be in

I have GetSmile - it also allow hotlinking, like Smiley Central does.
So yes i would say it is allowed as SC is allowing it.

You would be best doing this with anything you find may be hotlinked.

On the pic, right click and go to properties
the URL is there
copy it and past it into a IE
go through the site and check it out - look for stuff about how
the "pics" can be used.
If you find the URL is something like this (used , instead of . )
www,smileycentral,com,happy or similar for example
and if it just shows the actual pic
remove the ,happy and go to the actual site - go through it and find out
about if things can be hotlinked or not.
If in doubt, find an email addy and make contact with them.

I didnt allow SC in my group until i had time to sort out if it was allowed.
